Tour Plan

A day trip along the Georgian Military Highway offers some of the most stunning scenery in Georgia. Starting from Tbilisi, the road immediately takes you to the Zhinvali Reservoir, where the calm, turquoise waters framed by towering mountains make for a perfect first stop. It's the kind of view that invites you to pause, take a deep breath, and just enjoy the moment.

Not far from the reservoir is the Ananuri Fortress, a medieval complex perched on a hill with sweeping views over the water below. You can wander around the fortress, explore the old churches, and take in the panoramic scenery—it's a peaceful spot where history and nature come together.

As you continue north, the landscape changes, and you’ll soon pass the point where the Black and White Aragvi Rivers meet. These two rivers, which flow from opposite directions, create a striking visual contrast as they converge. The Black Aragvi River comes from the mountains, dark and powerful, while the White Aragvi River is lighter and more peaceful. The sight of the two rivers merging in the valley is a unique and beautiful natural phenomenon worth stopping to admire.

Further along the highway, you’ll reach Gudauri, a mountain resort town. Known for its skiing in winter, Gudauri is just as stunning in warmer months, with its high-altitude views and rugged peaks. A stop at the Friendship Monument is a must, offering incredible 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains—it's the kind of place where you’ll want to take it all in.

The final destination is Stepantsminda, also known as Kazbegi, a small town sitting under the impressive Mount Kazbek. From here, you can either drive or take a short hike to the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, perched high on a hilltop. The church, with its backdrop of snow-capped peaks, is one of Georgia’s most famous and photographed landmarks. The peaceful setting makes it a perfect spot to reflect and take in the awe-inspiring surroundings.

After soaking in the views, the journey back to Tbilisi is just as scenic. You might stop for a coffee or revisit some of your favorite viewpoints. It’s a full day of mountain landscapes, historical sites, and unforgettable moments—one of those trips you’ll think about long after you return to the city.
